If ever I am alone and in danger of becoming a burden to my children, who do not deserve it – I shall take myself off to a Spanish mountain village and stay there until I croak.
I shall never be tempted to leave. The narrow winding roads and hairpin bends up to the village and down to the sea make me seriously nauseous.
The centre of my life shall become the church square.
I can buy a single cigarette for 30 cents at the kiosk on the corner.
I will probably have a dog. Or many dogs. They will find me. Rescue dogs.
I will have neighbours.
They will notice if I don’t appear and they will look for me. I will not be eaten by my starving rescue dogs.
There will be high days and holidays.
And every day days.
Colourful restaurants and colourful ‘friends’ who will always make me feel welcome. Regardless. And offer a drink or a ‘hit’ of the weed. Their stories have a sameness. Came for a visit and never left.
There will be astonishing sunsets.
And tapas and local wine. Fresh produce from the Saturday market.
Colour and light and sunshine.
It will wait. Things to do and people to see. But good to know there are alternatives to some regimented old age home. Think laterally :-).
Sounds Wonderful, so long as there were a couple of cats around too to pat and cuddle….
There are always cats. And if you had 20 no one would think you weird. :-).
Heaven!!! I would be Heaven!
I might just join you!
Excellent! You would teach me how to use a camera 🙂
I’d love to (if I could still remember how) 🙂
Not important :-). Nothing seems really important when you are there.
Ah … somewhere to park off and write? Give me a shout! We’ll join you.
Personally I can’t write if I am not stimulated by surroundings. I would never write a word 🙂
Sounds ideal. I note that you didn’t mention the sunrises. 😃
Sunrise??? What the hell is that 🙂
Oh to dream.
And why not? It is there.
Seems good, but I’d kinda miss the sea.
This has been written ABSOLUTELY against doctor’s orders – I’m supposed to stay in bed.
Col dear. I do hope you are fully recovered.
Solid alternatives, it’s always good to have them:-)
We all need a plan B.
love it! have no idea how to give this five stars… i would like to retire tomorrow.
Your time will come 🙂
