Hola bloggies.   It’s been a while.  I have excuses.   People to see and things to do.   And limited access to wifi

Took  a drive high into the mountains to watch the Spanish at play.   Not quite the French Alps but fun.   One can spend the morning, bikini clad on the beach, and within an easy two hour drive spend the remainder of the day skiing the slopes, if so inclined.   Needless to say, I stuck with après ski.

Spent a night in the mountain village of Competa.   I painted the pic some time ago (from a postcard).   It was fun to become acquainted with the real thing, although the drive up there is hairy if you don’t fancy narrow winding roads!

Finally got to visit the Alhambra in Granada, courtesy of JD’s boyfriend (he booked weeks in advance) so can delete it from the bucket list.   It is, of course, quite stunning and worth every minute, despite the queues.

Got to spend two delightful weeks with the Pumpkin l, before she had to return to Mud land and back to school.

Done some painting – mostly menu boards for JD’s restaurant.  (I truly am a lousy sign writer but they were desperate).   Not exactly what we would consider a traditional menu but the food was very good.   I learned something.   ‘Amuse’ is the new word for ‘aperitif ‘.  Whilst working on the board I had visions of the chef doing a sing & dance routine.

Have discovered a fabulous little restaurant in the village of Nerja.   2 pizzas and coffee or a glass of wine – under 9 Euros!   And truly the best pizza ever.

I am currently house and cat sitting whilst JD is in South Africa and then will head back to Mi Casita in the village for a few short weeks.   Time is going way too fast.

It’s been so long that I didn’t even remember I was following you. lol
Nice pictures especially the pizza. I clicked and looked up close and almost picked all the mushrooms off.

  2. That pizza does look to die for, and i love the sound of the carrot soup with rosemary. In fact, I could eat that whole menu from start to finish. 🙂 Glad you got to see the Alhambra at last. What a wonderful time you must be having, far more preferable to a gloomy winter in England. Happy for you and TL. Hugs to you. When are you back in England? We arrive for a few days at the end of February, before returning to SA.

This all sounds really awesome – Alhambra, bikini clad, après skiing, etc:-). I love your paintings too, especially the menu list. Very nice!

Would so love to explore those villages and sample the food. Great pics especially the cat on the pillar. Enjoy the rest of your stay in Spain footsy.

Oh joy! Sounds like you’re just having way too much fun! Serves you right! You really must quit being so critical of your paintings. They’re wonderful! I love the menu! (painting, that is… though the offerings look very tempting… even the “amuse”!)

With Pumpkin back in the UK and Junior Daughter away things have quieted down considerably – just me, TL and the cat – big blue sky, sunshine, wifi, and total peace. It is heaven 🙂

Know that contentment of returning to some peace and quiet. I seem to be getting bombarded lately and not sure when life might settle down again. 😦

  6. Sounds like you are having a good time 🙂

    Wotcha goodlookin’!
Guess what I’m looking at. 😉

Erm ….just a thought. The woman with the orange suntan and all the bling featured in the photograph is random. I seldom feature as inevitably I am behind the camera – and I sure as hell don’t look like her :-).

      • Arkenaten says:

        Erm…I know, you nitwit!
I thought you were the middle character on the bicycle with a false mustache.

      • Arkenaten says:

Oh, and those plastic thingies….they are to attach to to the frame (the corners?) so as to allow for tightening of the canvass if it should stretch during painting or over time…so sayeth Emily. Though she didn’t explain how they are attached. Don’t think she read that far! One can always Google. She says there are videos. I shall investigate further later on..

      • footsy2 says:

Ah the fella with the false moustache! That’s okay then ….. I tried googling re plastic thingies (frequently they come is wood) and got none the wiser. There are slots in the wooden framework where they are supposed to fit but never seem to …..

So much activity my head is spinning!
I really love the idea of a morning on the beach and afternoon zooming down slopes … *sigh*
Your art is, as usual, delightful (even the menu), and that is a moggie of great character!
